Following a tragic avalanche which took the lives of seven students on February 1, 2003, an endowment fund was established by a group of donors within the STS Foundation to remember and honour the students. This fund supports scholarships for students, provides financial support for the fine arts program, and supports a special day of activity for junior high students. The personal qualities of each of the seven students are honored in keeping with the wishes of each student's family.
